Greater Manchester Workforce Strategy
While some challenges are best addressed at a local level, there are others where Greater Manchester needs to work together to tackle them. That’s where our Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Workforce Strategy comes in, to support our local workforce plans. We have worked with health and care organisations across Greater Manchester to agree the top four areas we think are best addressed together.
- Talent Development and System Leadership: investing in the training and development of our workforce.
- Grow Our Own: widening access to a range of health and care roles by investing in training and development, apprenticeships and supporting work placements.
- Employment Offer and Brand: building a Greater Manchester workforce benefits package, employer brand and recognition scheme, to help attract and retain staff.
- Filling Difficult Gaps: addressing specific long term skills and role shortages by designing flexible, integrated and new ways of working.
We then have equality, diversity and inclusion, support for local workforce plans and the GMHSC Partnership transformation themes, and communications and engagement running throughout the workforce programme.
The strategy was approved after development and consultation with health and care organisations, and the wider workforce across the region.
